Stephen Adams, Class of 1967, 7125 Zerkle Road, Springfield, Ohio 45502, 937-964-0211, I moved in Greenfield when I was in the 6th grade after my mother died.  I lived with my aunt & uncle on Lafayette Street and remember some of the best times of my life those two years I attended McClain as a 6th & 7th grade year student.  When my father re-married I moved back to the Springfield area where I still reside today.  I would really like to find a yearbook for the class of 1967 and see some of my old classmates.  If anyone knows how I can obtain one please let me know.  I still visit relatives in Greenfield and think back on all the fond memories of those days in the early '60s growing up in that fine community.  My favorite teacher of all time was Mrs. McCoppin and that 6th grade class.  My first girlfriend too, Linda Williams. scadams@iapdatacom.net Steve.Adams@itwfeg.com

Larry Chapman, MHS Class of 1960. I’ve retired from McClain after teaching U.S. History and Government for 26 years. Since retirement, I’ve become even more involved in growing Fall Creek Communications, a company I founded in 1983. My current interests are traveling, the Internet, web design, fishing and watching the development of our first grandchild, Cyrus James Cross. This grandpa thing is just as wonderful as I had imagined it would be. Play with the kid and when he dirties his diaper or cries, hand him back to the parents and go to Furman’s!. Janet (Michael, Class of ‘59) still teaches kindergarten at New Petersburg and will, most likely, never retire. She loves what she does and wants to continue as long as possible. Maybe a grandchild will change her mind! I’d like to say hello to all those who are passing by, and invite you to submit your own update from time to time. I’m sure your friends would like to know how you’re doing. If you care to contact Janet or me, we are at 937-981-9992. Thanks and take care. UPDATE: Well, grandchild number 2 has arrived. May 18 brought us Harper Jane Cross. The name honors her grandmother. She is doing well and is a joy to us all. In the past year I've gotten more involved in this retirement thing. Having turned the day-to-day running of the business over to my employees I've gotten deeper into the fishing thing. My brother, Joe, is now semi-retired and has a place on the coast of North Carolina. Also, Mike McCoy (Class of 60 but he moved to Good Hope before graduation) has a place in South Carolina on a large lake. I've been making regular appearances at both! In addition to the computer business we have started several online e-commerce business' and I can run them from anyplace with a phone line and a notebook computer. So, a fishin' we will go! Hope to see lots of you this summer at the all-class reunion. UPDATE, Janet is no longer teaching kindergarten. She is now a title teacher working with individual or small groups of children to help improve their reading skills. She is finding it to still be rewarding but with far less pressure than kindergarten. Things remain about the same with me, still working a little, traveling and dipping a line in the water whenever I can. It certainly is interesting to hear from so many former students. Thanks to those of you who've taken the time to say hello. UPDATE, (11/11/2000) Janet is still teaching at Rainsboro and has no plans to retire. She says she just wants to keep working and take care of my needs! You believe that, don't you! I have sold my interest in Fall Creek Computers and the business has been moved to a new location. I still write websites and have an Internet company that sells specialty products on eBay. Also, I work 5-days a week as a waiter at the Clyburn's new Burnie's Restaurant in Greenfield. It's great fun and I get to walk a lot in the process. The current email address is chapmans@highland-ohio.com . UPDATE, (7/9/2001) Janet is still working to support my recreations and I am no longer working for Burnie's. I never worked during the summers all the years I was teaching and saw no reason to begin now that I'm retired. Most recent news of importance is the birth of a new baby granddaughter, Hannah Kathryn Wenker, born on June 30, 2001. The parents are our daughter Jennifer and her husband Randy. They, as are all of us, are extremely happy with Hannah's arrival. Grandkid count is now up to three. That's three times the pleasure of being able to send them home when they're no longer fun!! UPDATE, Janet and I just returned from the first McClain Alumni Association's Caribbean Cruise and we had the time of our lives. We enjoyed the company of over 60 Tigers and can't wait to do something like it again. larry@highland-ohio.com

Sandi Collins (Class '69), What an exciting event coming in July.  I do not get to Greenfield very often, but I will be at the July celebration.  Living in Dayton, Ohio for the last 4 years working for Thompson Hine & Flory LLP, a law firm.  I enjoy spoiling Alecia's (Susan's daughter) two children (Mimi and Michael), as they live in Lebanon which is only about 15 miles from my house.  Mimi is going to be just like her "Grandma Sasha."   God help us!  Hope to see you all at "Penny's"!  E-Mail is: collinsk@thf.com

Robert J. Conley, MHS Class of 1969. Most people knew me more as Bob Conley. I now live in Circleville with my wife Terry Lynn (Penn) Conley. We have two children: Chad Conley, 27, who is married to Dawnell; and Courtney Alyse Conley, 17, who is a senior at Circleville High School. I am presently in my last quarter of college at Columbus State Community College finishing up with a degree in business management. And yes, it was rough going back to school after 29 years. But it has been fun. I spent 27 years working for the U.S. Air Force Reserves until an industrial accident in 1993. And now I’m in the rehabilitation process. Terry works for the city school system here in Circleville. She spent 18 years working in an eye doctor’s office. We get back to Greenfield quite often and are able to keep up with what is going on. The one thought I would like to leave for everyone in Greenfield is that Greenfield, to me, is the best place in the world that a kid could every grow up. You can contact us at 351 Juhl Road, Circleville, OH 43113, 740-474-4645. Bob Conley (son of Doris and Herb). UPDATE, Robert J. Conley, Class of 1969, 351 Juhl Rd., Circleville, Ohio 43113, 740-474-4645, This is an update! I thought the reunion was the best thing that could happen in Greenfield. Can't wait for the next one. I just hope its not in 50 years!!! bobb_01@yahoo.com

I have been teaching at a private school in Indianapolis for the past eight years and really enjoy it.  Aaron graduated from Ball State University and Jim is currently a student there.  Steve and I have been married for 28 years.  It was very exciting to come back to Greenfield and visit with former classmates at the Reunion and I am equally thrilled to have found this site! gkcp68b@prodigy.com   UPDATE, Nancy Federbush Dean, Class of 1964,  ndean9003@hotmail.com , UPDATE Please note new e-mail address. Have been married since 1971 to Steve Dean and have two sons born in 1974 and 1978.

I am really looking forward to attending Reunion Weekend 2004 and hope you will be on the lookout for me! I attended the last one a few years ago and although I had a great time I missed seeing and/or talking with so many classmates. I had a few nice chats with old friends but they were far too brief and I would love the chance to sit down and really catch up and reminisce.

So glad the dances will be "cool" this time as I am sure that will make it easier to spend more time together. We will be leaving Indy in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday as I am hoping to attend a choir breakfast. Would love to hear from anyone who plans on being at any event as I don't want to miss anyone this time if possible. Evidently my class of 1964 has not had any of our own reunions recently or maybe I've just missed them somehow. There was a 20 year reunion which I attended a long time ago when I lived in Wisconsin. At any rate, I hope to see many 1964 classmates this time. E-mail me at ndean9003@hotmail.com and let me know if you'll be there, too!

Teena Fitzpatrick Thornton, Class of 1964, The Bio introduction asked that a brief summary be submitted about what I've been doing these past 45 years. NOT enough space. I'm back in Greenfield via Washington State, Minnesota, and Oregon. Been married, widowed and divorced. (Always the optimistic lover) I have (had) two wonderful children, oldest child Julie passed away in 2002 a week after my father...it was an interesting year. My other child... a boy, is currently on his twentieth year in the Air Force. He is married and has two children. They are currently stationed at Patrick AFB in Florida.
I've worked in the accounting profession most of my life. I discovered "temping" before it became popular. Since I love to unravel fine messes, it has been a perfect fit.. work when and where you want to. I've also been a travel guide, EMT, worked at a winery in Oregon for several years and a potato farm in Washington State. I've white watered on some of the best rivers in Oregon and Washington, SCUBA dived on the Great Barrier Reef and too much more to talk about here.
They always say that the best is saved for last, indeed that has been the case for me. When I arrived back in Greenfield, Jake Greenlee introduced me to his older brother Jim. This is another perfect fit. Jim lives at the family farm where he was born. It is outside of Greenfield near Lyndon. We are having the time of our lives. Jim has been a farmer all his life (he's a fine stockman). I love gardening and farming also. We have cattle, a milk cow, pigs, chickens, dogs, cats, and guineas. We plant a huge garden every year and can, freeze and dry much of our own food. I have been experimenting with homemade butter and cheese. What fun. I work part time at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. I'm a Unit Clerk in the Telemetry Unit. It keeps me entertained (young nurses are a hoot) and pays my health insurance...what more could a girl want?
I'm currently trying to get a note out to you all (class of 64) about some sort of reunion this year (2009) So watch for e-mails and snail mails from the Greenlee Farm at 1376 White Lane, Greenfield, Ohio 45123. E-mail teenakt@scpwildblue.com, 937-981-1070. Hope to hear from some of you soon. PS I have most addresses and e-mails. Mail me and I will attach an Excel sheet with the info if you are interested. 2/17/09

I received this from Kim Chamblin, the daughter of Don Hyer, McClain Class of 1960: My father, Don Hyer, left Greenfield and went to Iowa State where he played football and received his engineering degree.  My parents moved back to Columbus, Ohio and my father worked for General Electric, now AT&T. I was born in 1969. My father found out that he had lymphoma when I was 6 years old. He died when I was 10. I have a lot of great memories about him but most of all he was a great dad. I am now 30 years old and have 4 kids. I know it sounds like a lot but my last were twins. So I kind of cheated. Amber is 10, Lindsay is 8, and the twins Case and Paige are 3. I have operated a day care in my home for the past 12 years and I am currently going to Ohio State School of Cosmetology. My husband works for Honda Research and we live in Marysville. I am only child.  Both of my parents are deceased so I thought it would be neat to talk to anyone who might have remembered them. You are welcome to give out information so that I can hear from others. Memories are very important to me. My email address is; BCHAMBLIN@compuserve.com

Roberta A. Jackson-Patrick, Class of 1960, 1875 S. Champion Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43207, Hi old friends, My name is Roberta Anne Jackson/Patrick - it was Jackson during my school days at good old McClain. I left Greenfield right after graduation in 1960 and moved to Columbus - the big city, by comparison - and have been here ever since.  I have been married and divorced - a long time ago - I have two grown children (girl, Loronda and boy, Kevin) and 7 grandchildren - 4 girls and 3 boys - all living in Columbus except my son's oldest daughter, who lives in Detroit, Mi.  I have worked at both the state (Employment Services) and the county, Franklin County Children Services - where I continue to work.  I am into my 23rd year.  I work as a office manager in the Adoptions Department, quite an interesting position.  I supervise three staff members.  I miss the old school days and have several people in mind I wonder if anyone knows the whereabouts of - kids who went to school at McClain but sort just came and went - They are: Patty Rockenbaugh, Carolyn Shaw, Mary Jane Bender, Frank Spangler, Milton Lee Brooks - to name a few.  Some other classmates I have never seen at any reunions - i.e., Dawn and Phil Carter, Jeff Pommel, Phyllis Griffith, Frank Spangler - where are these people?  My mom still lives in Greenfield and is a sexy ol' broad at 77 - still healthy and well which is indeed a blessing.  I have listed my e-mail address so anyone can feel free to contact me by e-mail.  I look forward to hearing from anyone who was near my age at McClain. Oh yea, I see Larry Chapman often when I am down to visit my mom and he keeps a pretty good eye on who is where - but some even he can't come up with.  Where the heck is Dick Craft and Harold Stroup? I'd love to have some info about them.  I think this website is the greatest and I hope more McClain alum will find it and chime in.  I am still a music lover - we had this fun group in high school - gee, it's too bad we cannot go back and relive some of the fun we used to have.  I hope to hear from classmates soon.  Love you all.  Roberta A. Jackson/Patrick. Let's have more profiles - as you can see, I am not a "person of a few words". rapatric@fccs.co.franklin.oh.us (corrected email address 6/23/03) UPDATE: Roberta (Jackson) Patrick, Class of 1960, I retired from FCCS in 2006 after 27 years.  I am bored with retirement and am thinking about going back to work somewhere part-time just for something to do.  My daughter has "made" me come to the Library every day just to get me out of the house, which was getting me down.  Now I come down here and spend 2 or 3 hours just working on the computer and trying to keep my typing skills alive.  I enjoy it here, have met some nice people and it is a very good diversion from my depression.  I am just not cut out to lay around and watch TV all the time - I have always been a scheduled and busy person - if I hadn't gotten ill with the stroke I might have still been working but I am not sure because I was not in a good work-situation.  My daughter told me it was best that I retire before I went postal - and if anybody knew my boss, they would understand.  My new email address is:  rapatric@hotmail.com and I encourage anyone to contact me especially those that were in our class. 8/29/07

Linda Lewis-Day, Class of 1968, 2902 Continental Drive, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068, 614 755-7611, I graduated from Miami University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  I taught in Circleville the next year and then went to OSU to work on my masters.  I detoured through a job with the Ohio Department of Health and have worked for the state almost every since.  I currently work for the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. I am divorced and have a 14 year old daughter, Emily.  We visit my mom, Mary Lewis, in Greenfield almost every week.  My sister Marsha (1975) lives in Republic, Missouri and my brother Larry (1984) lives in Ayden, North Carolina.

Danny & Nancy Long: 437 Dickey Ave., Greenfield, Oh 45123, 937-981-7190: Danny graduated from MHS in 1964. He received his BS in Industrial Technology from Ohio University in 1970 and an MS in Educ. from Xavier in '74. He coached the MHS swim team for 25 years, retiring in 1997. He still is golf coach. His big thrill was having his golf team qualify for the state match in the fall of 1995. He married me, Nancy Taylor, from Leesburg in 1972. I also graduated from OU in 1970. Danny is Director of Guidance at MHS and I teach Kindergarten at Buckskin Elementary. Our oldest son, Barney, born in 1975, passed away from a severe asthma attack in November, 1997. Our younger son Nick is a Dean's List student at OU (where else?) majoring in Creative Writing. He plans to be the next Stephen King and support his parents in their old age. Danny has developed a mania for NASCAR and goes to at least 1 race a year. I think he learned to like this sport from his rat-racing days on the back streets of Greenfield. We'll see everyone at the Bicentennial celebration this summer! Email to db3833@dragonbbs.com .

Robert  A. Lytle, LFD,  Class of 1968, 2901 N. Dale Mabry Hwy.  # 910, Tampa, Florida, 33607, 813-874-3806, I'm a Funeral Director at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home in Brandon, Fl.  ( A suburb of Tampa )  Ill be home in July to visit my family for my birthday.  Glad to see that Greenfield and my Alma Matar has stepped into the new century with this web sight.

Alice Malott Hoggatt, Class of 1963, 2875 California Hollow Rd., Bainbridge, Ohio 45612, As you can see I didn't stray far from home--Bainbridge. I married Dave in August of 1963, we have one daughter, a good son-in-law and two beautiful granddaughters, 71/2 and 14 months. Dave retired last year and loves it!! I work three days a week for an optometrist in Chillicothe. We enjoy riding motorcycles, square dancing, playing cards and traveling. Some one from my class <let me hear from you>. mrhaney@horizonview.net

Janet Malott Turner, Class of 1960, 312 E. Main St., P. O. Box 121, Leesburg, Ohio 45135, I graduated from McClain in 1960 and have fond memories of all those years. What a time of innocent fun. A few members of our class met to plan our 45th class reunion (where does the time go) and sparked my interest in Larry's web site.

After graduation, I attended Columbus Business University and majored in computers (actually key punch and big cumbersome computers at that time, but of course we thought that was very advanced!). I was employed at Blue Cross Insurance for 5 years, doing data verification entry and training new employees. In 1964 I married Hugh H. Turner. Some of you recall he taught at McClain from 1959-1966. I was in his class in 1959-60. We dated from the time I graduated till we married (when he ask to see me I thought it would be a good way to kill the summer). It turns out he became one of the greatest blessings of my life. We have two children, Sam, born in 1968 and deceased the same year, and Rachel, born in 1971. We have lived in Leesburg since 1967, in the same home. Hugh's mom and dad had a restaurant here for 38 years, so this has been home to him for a long time, except during his army and college years and a short time in Greenfield. We were friends with the lady who owned the home we live in. I probably know more about Leesburg now than I do about Greenfield.

We are both retired now and, although like you all, have had trying times, we are having a great life. Our daughter is married and lives in Lithopolis, Ohio (between Lancaster and Circleville). She graduated from Ohio State, has a masters in pastoral counseling from Ashland Seminary and works for the city of Columbus with the Health Department, doing school intervention programs with grade school children. We are active in our local church, and various clubs, Hugh is quite active in the Kairos Ministry which works inside prisons and has a program similar to the Emmaus Walk (anyone familiar with that?). I am the church librarian and love to read everything except science fiction. I have a large, mostly unused, cookbook collection, so if anyone out there loves recipes, please contact me.

I hope this 45th reunion causes you all to come home and visit. We had a ball at our meeting. Life's experiences has brought us to a new level of understanding each other.

My e-mail address is jetreads@yahoo.com, please feel free to contact me anytime. I would love to hear from any former classmates.

I would love to hear from you in the meantime. Email to petticord.1@osu.edu, UPDATE: Judy Ann Wilson Petticord,  Class of 1966, 504 Pierce Avenue, Whitehall, OH 43213, 614-239-9259, Two years ago I transferred to the Economics Department at Ohio State, where I am the Graduate Program Coordinator.  I plan to retire next May after having completed 34 years at OSU.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do but I hope to travel, and am planning to go to Turkey next summer.  I have met so many wonderful people from all other the world while working here and would love to take them up on their invitations to visit them in their own countries.  I get back to Greenfield a couple of times a month to visit my mother who still lives on McClain.  Go Tigers!  Go Bucks! petticord.1@osu.edu

David C. Pheanis, 938 E. Ranch Road, Tempe, Arizona  85284-3225, (602) 839-5229, After graduating from McClain in 1965, I majored in Math at Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve University) in Cleveland.  When I graduated from Case in 1969, I went into the Air Force and served as an officer for 4 years, programming air-defense computers. While I was stationed at Luke AFB in Arizona, I took graduate classes on a part-time basis and got a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering. Then, after getting out of the Air Force in 1973, I finished a PhD in Computer Engineering at Arizona State University.  I decided to stay at ASU and became a member of the faculty, where I have continued to teach Computer Science and Engineering ever since.  I have a consulting business that keeps me busy in the summer and in my spare time.  My consulting work is mainly with General Motors, where I develop microprocessor-controlled automative test instruments, and with Inter-Tel, a company that designs, builds, and sells business telephone systems and internet telephony systems.  Several of my students and former students work for me in my consulting business.  The best part of my career is that I get paid for doing things that are fun to do!  I married Judith Chandler in 1978.  Judi is an electrical engineer who does ASIC design for Motorola, and she grew up in Wyoming and came to Arizona to work at Motorola after graduating from the University of Wyoming.  We have a son, Charles, who is 15 (dangerously close to driving age).  Charles goes to Corona del Sol High School where he is president of the sophomore class. We'll be in Greenfield for the all-class reunion in July.  Meanwhile, I'd welcome email from any fellow McClain grads or Greenfielders. email, David.Pheanis@asu.edu

Sheila (Pinkerton) Carter, Class of 1965, Greenfield, Ohio 45123-8235, Hello! Garry and I got married in October 1965 and are still together, even though some said it wouldn't last! We have a son Kevin Wayne, a daughter-in-law Marsha (Clouser), a granddaughter Sabrina Dawn, 6 this month, and a grandson Devin Wayne, born last September. We don't get to see them as often as we'd like, even though they live next door, because Garry and I have driven a semi together since 1987. Before then I worked at Greenfield Research 3 1/2 years. Before that I was "just a housewife". I hope to be one again when Garry retires in a couple years! That's about it for my life after graduation. If you write don't expect a quick answer! :) June 2001, ladybug@dragonbbs.com UPDATE: Sheila (Pinkerton) Carter, Class of 1965, Oct.2, 2003. Today is our 38th anniversary (and they said it wouldn't last!) Garry officially retired 2 days ago so I (unofficially) retired, too. Actually, the trucking company we drove for shut down the union division the end of June, so we've been rehearsing for retirement since then. We've been babysitting our 2 grandchildren, camping-sometimes with them, sometimes without-working around our "farm", and generally enjoying ourselves. Kevin (class of 1985) and Marsha got a dissolution in June. He drove a truck for a little over a year and started a new factory job last night. If anyone would like to write, my e-mail address hasn't changed! :) ladybug@dragonbbs.com UPDATE: (4/20/06) Sheila (Pinkerton) Carter, Class of 1965, We have had a new daughter-in-law, Kellie, since January of 2004. Also have two more grandsons: Zachary Gene will be 13 on May 26 and Logan Scott will be 7 on May 19. Sabrina Dawn will be 11 on June 25 and Devin Wayne will be 6 on September 21. I have been working 3rd shift at ABX Air (Logistics) since April 18 last year. I sort eyeglasses for Sears Optical. If you get yours from Chillicothe, I put them in the box! ladybug@dragonbbs.com

Melinda Pheanis Preston, graduated from McClain HS in 1967. I currently am working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. I received my BS and MS from the University of Cincinnati in 1971and 1977 respectfully. I practiced in Cincinnati until 1989 when I moved with my two sons, Matthew and David to Tempe, Arizona. Matthew is now 21and a junior at the University of Arizona in Tucson majoring in biochemistry, David is 13 and an 8th grader. We return to Greenfield at least once a year to see my mother, Marvella Pheanis. She, likewise, comes to Arizona to see us and two (David and Paul) of my four brothers who live here. We enjoy downhill skiing, camping, hiking, traveling, and our many pets. Our climate is great for all these activities. It's only a 2-3 hour drive to the ski resort, while you can enjoy a short sleeve hike here in the Valley of the Sun. I enjoyed attending our 30th class reunion in 1997, it was great to see my classmates. I hope I can get back to Greenfield during the time of the 200 year celebration. It was a wonderful place to grow up. My e-mail address is preston.melinda@mayo.edu

Phyllis (Woods) Rea, Class of 1967, (740) 335-2527, 3748 Lyndon Rd., Greenfield, Ohio 45123, Graduated from the University of Cincinnati, 1971. Worked as accountant at the Greenfield Hospital, office manager at Cudahy Foods (Washington CH), grain accountant at Fayette Landmark (WCH and Jeffersonville), in the office at Greenline Equipment (WCH), and in the accounts payable department at Mid-Ohio Chemical (WCH). I'm still working in the same building as when I started with Mid-Ohio in 1987, but the company has been sold three times - Vigoro Industries, IMC AgriBusiness, and now Royster-Clark AgriBusiness. We're considering putting up the yard sign with velcro. My job now is in the transportation department, where I maintain the files for and approve the trucking companies that haul for Royster-Clark. They have to have documentation on file showing authority, insurance coverge, etc. to be approved to haul for the company. In 1970, I married Eddie Rea (that guy from Miami Trace).  We lived in WCH for three years, then in Good Hope for 15 years. In 1988, Eddie died in a freak accident while cutting wood. We have two daughters. Angela graduated from Morehead State Univ. in Dec. 1998, majoring in elem. ed. and special ed. She recently married and lives in Huntington, WV. Michele just finished her first year at Hocking College, majoring in natural resources. She is working this summer at Kelley's Is. State Park, Lake Erie.  In 1989, the girls and I moved out to the farm, living in the house where I lived all my life until I was married. I still have two horses, and am in the 28th year as a 4-H advisor. plrea@farmarket.com UPDATE, Phyllis (Woods)  Rea, Class of 1967, Please note new e-mail address at home: plrea@prodigy.net. Daughter Angela & husband Shawn moved from Huntington WV to Ashland, KY and then to Good Hope, OH in June, 2000. She teaches special ed. at Wayne Elementary just across the street from their house. On August 9, Thomas Fredrick May arrived. 1st grandchild. Michele graduated from Hocking College in June, 2001 with Assoc. of Applied Science degrees in both Recreation & Wildlife and Backcountry Horsemanship. Since May 1, and through Sept. 1, she has been the asst. equestrian/trainer for the outdoor drama "Tecumseh!" in Chillicothe. Plans uncertain after that, but she still wants to go out west sometime to work. I think her new nephew will keep her here in the area until spring. plrea@prodigy.net UPDATE, Phyllis (Woods) Rea, Class of 1967, 3/27/02 - After the "Tecumseh!" season was over, Michele got a job at the new Wal-Mart in WCH, but was still looking for that perfect "horsey" job. That opportunity came to her this month, and she was hired as the barn manager for the Buckeye Ranch, Grove City, OH. The Ranch is a residential treatment center for children who have been abused or have been through the court system for various problems. Some children live there, some come on a daily basis. They have a beautiful facility for the therapeutic riding program. They also have a small animal (rabbits) therapeutic program. Michele's job entails everything to do with the care & training of the horses, appearance of the barn, and oversight of the children who are assigned chores in the barn as part of their treatment. The Ranch will be helping her to obtain certification to become a therapeutic riding instructor, working directly with the children. plrea@prodigy.net, UPDATE: Phyllis (Woods) Rea, Class of 1967, Hard to believe our 40th year reunion is next year. Many changes since last update. The company I work for has sold again, and this time I will be one of many who are being "integrated" out of a job, effective 12/15/06. I have worked in the same building, albeit for five different companies, about six weeks short of 20 years, and the thought of looking for a new job at my age is not pleasant. Daughter Angela and her husband split up in 2003. She and grandson Thomas, 5, still live in Good Hope, and she is teaching multiple-handicapped 3rd through 6th graders at Wayne Elementary. Daughter Michele married Mark Snider, whom she met at Hocking college, on May 20, 2006. In May of 2005, her dream job at the Buckeye Ranch was eliminated and the riding program there was gutted - so sad, the potential for helping kids there was great and the facility was super. She would still like to be involved in, or start, a similar program, but of course the start-up costs are prohibitive at this time. She is now working as an assistant teacher of 4 & 5-yr old pre-schoolers at the YMCA day care in Wash. C.H. Mark works at Johnson Controls. They live about a mile away from me on Lyndon Rd. plrea@prodigy.net 11/14/06

Michael (Gossett) Smith, Class of 1965, Long Beach, CA 90814, I lived in Greenfield from 1948-1960.  My step-father, Fred Gossett, owned the Shell Station.  I left after 8th Grade.  Moved to Arizona.  Air Force.  Viet Nam. Graduated from University of Arizona, B. A., MFA.  Lived in Boston (ran into  Penelope Duckworth there (the granddaughter of the principal)-- she's  now an Episcopalian minister and a fine poet.) Also lived in LA and DC.  I taught writing at Howard University and UCLA. Have three kids and another on the way!  Friends I remember: Butch (Dwight) Wilson, Ralph Nooks, Jim Garrison. Other classmates:  Don Dietrich, Jeff Pollard, Bobby Wilkins, Patty Mertz, Brenda Clay.  Who remembers Paul Maple, our coach?  How about the donuts at Stewart's Pharmacy (I think?) And of course the rich compromise of character, the converted tobacco curing house, Daniel's Pool Hall? I recall Joellen Vandermark living across the street at one time. Can that be so? So long ago. We were so young. And now look at us! I returned to Greenfield for a day back in 92, on the way to a conference in Cincinnati.  I was stunned by how accurate my memory was -- how idyllic!  What a great place to grow up -- though I know -- as you all know -- that small towns have their darkness as well... Still, Greenfield is aptly named. smithpoet@aol.com

Jean Sprinkle Cavallo, Class of 1967, 13 Fieldstone Drive, Clinton, New Jersey 08809, I discovered this website while my family is visiting my  sister, Nancy (Sprinkle) Baldwin this week (7/6/02).  After graduation from McClain in '67, I went to Ohio State University getting a B.S. in Zoology in 1970, then went on to graduate school at OSU studying wildlife parasitology.  I spent 5 summers as an undergraduate and graduate student at OSU's freshwater biology station at Put-in-Bay on Lake Erie - loved it.  My Master's degree was studying the life cycle of a red worm that infests Lake Erie yellow perch.  I had started a PhD program at OSU when the parasitology job market started to evaporate. I accepted a job in Pathology & Toxicology in the "real world" of pharmaceutical research at what was then called Richardson Merrell, Inc. in Cincinnati.  I also was married for 5 years (1974-1979), then divorced, no kids.  While continuing to work, I went back to graduate school at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and received a PhD in investigative pathology in 1987.  My PhD dissertation was focused on cholesterol metabolism and changes during early development, using the rabbit as a model.  I met Joseph Cavallo while scuba diving in the Florida Keys in 1986.  We got married in 1989 and now have two children, Christopher is almost 12 years old and Kelly is 8 1/2 years old.  I have stayed with the same pharmaceutical company throughout my career, but it has undergone 4 mergers/take-overs/buy-outs, it is now called Aventis.  In the next to last merger, my job moved to New Jersey - a major life change.  We now live in a quaint little town with a red mill and stream going though the center of town.  We do not have a New Jersey accent.  We go skiing as a family in the Poconos in PA and in Vermont.  In my work, I now head up a group that does molecular pathology on animal and human tissues, both normal and diseased.  We are looking for new genomics based targets for new drugs.  It is exciting, but also a lot of high visibility pressure as this is the new way of developing drugs and the future of the company depends on its success.  I sometimes travel to Paris and Frankfurt for my job, as Aventis is a French based global company with major research sites in Paris (France),  Frankfurt (Germany) and Bridgewater (NJ/US).  My husband gave up a career in federal law enforcement in Miami, Florida before he moved to Ohio when we first got married.  Joe is now a stay-at-home dad plus he is going back to school pursuing a nursing degree. jscavallo@aol.com

David Upp, Class of 1966, 9600 Walmer St., Overland Park, Kansas 66212, 913-341-7699, After leaving McClain, I attended the University of Kansas, then joined the Army Security Agency.  I spent two years in Monterey, CA, learning Russian, and two years in West Germany, listening to Russian military maneuvers over the radio.

Came back to the states and got married to a Kansas City girl (Donna Wilson) in 1971, went back to KU, where I received a BA in German and an MA in Computer Science.  My Dad died in May of '77, I graduated in August, and we discovered the same week that Mom had inoperable ovarian cancer.

We moved to Athens, Ohio, where she was working on her PhD in Education, and I taught Computer Science at Ohio University for two years.  She died in March of '79, and, after completing the term at Ohio U., Donna and I moved back to Overland Park, where we have been ever since.  We celebrated our 30th anniversary last Dec.

Donna is a nurse.  I am a (mainframe) computer geek.  We raise cats, not kids, and are on our third pair of cats now.  We used to travel a lot, visit caves, museums and zoos; but Donna has severe rheumatoid arthritis these days, and I am all-but-wheelchair-bound because of repeated knee injuries, so we stay fairly close to home these days.  We're going to try to make it to the Class of '67 35th reunion this August.

In the meantime, I'll be where I've been the last 22 years: 9600 Walmer Street, Overland Park, KS, 66212. dupp2@kc.rr.com

My wife Diane & I now live in a small community east of Sacramento. She still works as a fund raiser for the American Red Cross and I'm in charge of all those things retired people get to do. I have hardly seen anyone from Greenfield since my class reunion of 1980 except for Dane & Connie Clyburn occasionally. Once I ran into Sam West. Anyway, I did not know about the big multi-class reunion of a few years ago and am sorry I missed it. Hello to all my old friends. The time spent in Greenfield was great. youngjnd@aol.com

During the summer of 2002 he paid a visit to Greenfield and he, his wife Diane, and I had the opportunity to have lunch together and relive a few "old times." John also was able to visit with a few other friends including Elaine Felson Vanzant. Click photos to enlarge.
